EASA GROUND HANDLING REGULATIONS: FROM COMPLIANCE TO CONFIDENCE

EASA Member states are entering a new era of aviation safety, and ground handling is now at the centre of safety oversight. With the adoption of Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/20, EASA is establishing for the first time a harmonised regulatory framework for ground handling across EASA Member States. This is not just another set of rules. It is a shift in how safety, accountability, and oversight are defined for ground handling service providers (GHSP).

For ground handling service providers and airlines performing self-handling, the challenge is the same: navigating the transition from fragmented oversight to structured compliance and doing so without disrupting daily operations.

That is where we come in.

WHAT WE OFFER

Our EASA Ground Handling Regulations Implementation Support is designed to translate regulatory complexity into operational clarity. With a proven track record in safety-critical domains and aviation compliance, we help organisations:

  • Interpret the regulation and understand its applicability to GHSPs, operators, and airports.
  • Perform structured gap analyses against current operations, manuals, and safety management systems (SMS).
  • Integrate industry standards such, where appropriate, as acceptable means of compliance (AMC).
  • Prepare and submit an organisation’s self-declaration to the competent authority.
  • Build internal capacity for compliance monitoring, including support for mock audits.
  • Plan for the transition timelines—including the 3-year implementation window and 6-year period for Part-IS.

WHY IT MATTERS

The new regulation shifts the landscape:

  • No more voluntary SMS: safety is now regulated and reviewable.
  • Oversight becomes systematic: processes will be audited by national authorities.
  • Industry standards can support compliance, but do not replace it.

These changes are substantial, but they are also manageable. And with the right support, they are an opportunity to create safer, smarter, and more resilient ground handling operations.

WHO IT IS FOR

  • Ground handling service providers (GHSP).
  • Airport operators providing or supervising ground handling services.
  • Airlines.
