Checklists and task cards are standardised work-instruction documents for operatives to perform tasks in accordance with a clearly defined sequence of steps designed to ensure that necessary tasks are not skipped nor forgotten.
When designing a checklist, we focus significant attention on determining the appropriate length and level of detail required. Other factors that are considered in checklist development include typography, phraseology (limiting vocabulary and using it consistently), the ordering of checklist items, and error capturing considerations.
