Context
EASA Decisions 2009/006/R and 2009/007/R require continuing airworthiness to account for fuel system safety issues. Organisations acting under Part-M and Par-145 are required to undertake extensive personnel and management training programmes. The level I training course provides in-class familiarisation training for maintenance and quality managers as required by the EASA and other bodies. The level II training meets EASA fuel system safety training requirements for all personnel involved in inspection standards and maintenance procedures.
Training items
Level I:
- Historical background.
- Identifying failure conditions.
- Fuel airworthiness limitation items (ALI).
- EASA mandatory continuing airworthiness information.
- Maintenance and inspection tasks.
- Critical design configuration control limitation (CDCCL).
- Precautions to take during maintenance.
- Ignition mitigation means (IMM) and flammability reduction means (FRM).
- Fault detection and control.
Level II:
- Basic elements of fuel tank safety.
- EASA mandatory continuing airworthiness information.
- Fuel airworthiness limitation section.
- Ignition mitigation means (IMM), and flammability reduction means (FRM).
- Ignition sources and prevention, precautions during maintenance, fault detection and control.
Training objectives
Level I:
- Describing terms and FTS elements.
- Identifying unsafe conditions that can result in airworthiness limitation items.
- Recognising key safety precautions to avoid fuel tank fire.
- Analysing ignition mitigation means.
Level II:
- Understanding the implications of a service bulletin or airworthiness directive in relation to FTS.
- Describing ALIs and CDCCL.
- Explaining to reduce ignition effects.
- Identifying components from the OEM documentation subject to FTS issues.
Administration
- Duration: 1 day level I / 2 days level II
- Deliverables: All participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
Perspective participants
- Personnel and managers of Part-M and Part-145 organisations
Prerequisites
