Context

This course addresses the load control process required of operators conducting commercial air transport under Regulation (EU) No 965/2012 Annex IV (Part-CAT).

The course is intended to qualify personnel involved in the load control process, including those who will subsequently deliver the training within their organisations, providing the regulatory awareness and practical competence needed to establish mass and balance data, prepare mass and balance documentation, and operate the load control process, including the loading instructions/report (LIR), the notification to captain (NOTOC) and last-minute changes (LMC).

The load control process is treated to address the peculiarities of airliners, combination aircraft, and full-cargo aircraft.

Training & course structure

• Regulatory and legal framework: EASA AIR OPS Part-CAT, Subpart C, Section 3, and associated AMC/GM (CAT.POL.MAB.100, .105, .110).
• Train-the-trainer.
• Establishing mass and balance data.
• Structural limitations.
• Operational CG envelopes & in-flight variations.
• Mass and balance documentation.
• The load control process.
• Last-minute changes (LMC).
• Signature and confirmation procedures:.
• Differences between airliners, combination, and full-cargo aircraft load planning.
• Cargo segregation rules and optimal load distribution.

Training objectives

• Explaining the regulatory basis and the purpose of the load control process.
• Applying the methods for establishing aircraft mass and balance data.
• Applying the load control process in accordance with CAT.POL.MAB.110.
• Delivering effective load control process training to operational personnel.

Administration

• Duration: initial 4 days (24 hours), recurrent 2 days (12 hours).
• Deliverables: training course materials and certificate of attendance.

Perspective participants

• Personnel to be integrated within the load control process of an air operator conducting operations under Part-CAT, including both those who will act as trainers.

Prerequisites

No formal prerequisite is set. Prior experience within an air operator environment is valuable.
