Context
According to GM1 147.A.105(f) dealing with personnel requirements, an instructor that uses new training technologies (e.g., e-tutor, tele-tutor, tele-trainer) should be trained in using these technologies, as well as in the coaching, guiding and assisting of e-learning students. This course prepares instructors on how much to expect from participants to absorb and in what quantity of time as well as the most suitable virtual classroom management techniques. While the course is designed with a focus on e-learning, the course is also useful for the development of training competence in general.

Day 1

• Changes and tendencies of today’s training.
• Fundamentals of methodology and didactics.
• Basics and theory of e-learning and tele-tutoring.
• Communication in virtual environments.
• The changed role of students and instructors.
• Competence profile of a tele-tutor.
• Practical guide to support learning processes.
• Assessment of students’ performance.
• The learning management system.

Day 2

• Engagement of participants.
• Icebreakers and games.
• Participants questioning styles.
• Human factors aspects of online training.

Training objectives

• nderstanding of the electronically based distance-learning process.
• Competence to remotely evaluate the learning behaviour of e-learning students.
• Ability to proactively support the learning process.
• Development of training competence.

Administration

• Duration: 2 days (12 hours).
• Deliverables: All participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

Perspective participants

• Instructors involved in the delivery of training in the on-line mode.
• Instructors or perspective instructors wishing to develop training competence.

Prerequisites
A basic understanding of the learning process is recommended to undergo this training.
